Christian Aid  Christian Aid Logo

Christian Aid was founded more than 60 years ago to help refugees in Europe at
the end of the Second World War. Since then it has evolved into a worldwide
organisation which works to relieve poverty and tackle the root causes of
injustice in many parts of the world.

Every year in May, members of Purley Churches take part in the Christian Aid
Week in order to raise funds. Last year Christ Church, Purley United Reformed
Church and St Swithin’s raised £2,486.25. Since the Covid pandemic we have
found new ways of raising funds which have included delivering envelopes,
asking people to make donations online, sponsored cycle and walking and an
online quiz, and collecting outside Tesco’s and Purley Railway Station.

Please contact me if you can offer some time to help with collecting donations,
running a quiz, organising a Big Brekkie or would like a sponsor form for walking
or cycling.

Let me know if any other Purley Churches may like to be involved.
Here's a link to the campaign this year aiming to provide struggling farmers to
grow the nutritious pigeon pea which can survive the droughts and flash floods,
as well as stories from other churches’ fundraising.

Bless you.
